At the 1976 Montreal Olympic Games was the moment she made history by becoming the first person who scored a perfect 10 in asymmetric bars. Furthermore, she had six other perfect 10s, making her, at fourteen years young, the youngest Olympic medalist across all categories. In addition to attracting interest, she also assisted in helping Romania become a household name. By achieving a score that was unattainable the sport's icon helped bring gymnastics to the forefront of international interest. It changed how people viewed female athletes. The effect she had on Olympics was so significant it is that 2 of her routines such as the toe-on movement and the release movement have been named in her honor. Both of them have been classified as difficult to the highest level. Apart from the Olympics, her performance was exceptional in each of the World Championships (World Championships) and European Championships.
